From June to September you can take a surprising cruise on the Oude Rijn from Leiden to Katwijk aan Zee and back to Leiden every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday.
We sail along the Limes, the natural northern border of the old Roman Empire, passing Oegstgeest, Valkenburg and Rijnsburg. After about five quarters of an hour we moor in the bustling inner harbor of Katwijk. In this old fishing town you can be on the boulevard within five minutes. Enjoy the sun or get a breath of fresh air on the beach. Behind the dunes we find a pleasant shopping center and for the old costumes you can visit the Katwijks Museum.
From Katwijk you sail to old Leiden. In this City of Discoveries you will find many museums and you can wander through the historic city center. On and along the picturesque canals you have a wide choice of terraces and nice eateries. Every Wednesday there is an atmospheric market along the Nieuwe Rijn.
