Boating activities and catering
We are happy to extend a cruise for you with a playful activity such as a Leiden course, a sailing quiz, a cooking workshop, a walk or pushing ahead with 'de Doordouwer'.
Below you will find a number of standard options that you can book with us for inspiration. With our regular catering partners, we are happy to provide catering for you on board; from a 'Coffee Boat' to a luxury lunch on-board.

Get to know Leiden… on foot and by boat!
The old waterways of Leiden offer you a unique opportunity to discover a historic city in all its splendor and beauty. While sailing, the skipper takes you along the green-fringed moats of our ‘Key-City’ and will tell you about life in the old days from Leiden’s rich history.
Sailing and walking in the wake of the Romans
Sail along the Oude Rijn, since recently Unesco World Heritage!
Two thousand years ago it was busy on and along the Oude Rijn, the northern border (Limes) of the mighty Roman Empire. It was one of the most important shipping routes for troops and trade in Europe.
And you can experience part of that!
Singelpark on foot & by boat
The " Singelpark " surrounds the historic center of Leiden with greenery.
A kilometers long city park with the water of the canals as a blue vein through the park.
Pushing ahead with the ‘Doordouwer’
Step aboard the Doordouwer, an old seagoing sloop, which you propel yourself.
​ Two experienced skippers guide you - with drum beats or with the beat of music - through the Leiden canals and green canals or guide you over the turbulent waters of the Kagerplassen.
Birdwatching
In early spring there is a possibility to make a special 'bird flight' in the Green Heart of Holland. An experienced guide will provide you with information about the meadow birds during the breeding season and will look for beautiful spots in the polders to photograph from the water.

Summertime and cooling off on the water!
During 1.5 hours you will sail through 'Oudt Leyden', past the many beautiful monuments, special vistas and beautiful parks. Of course we will tell you beautiful stories about this special city!
In association with Gelateria Maxims we make a stop on the way where delicious Italian ice creams are brought on board.

We can do it! The Leidse Rederij and Brasserie de Poort offer you a culinary experience; dine while cruising through the canals of Leiden.

During an hour and a half we take you into the fascinating world of wine, against the breathtakingly beautiful backdrop of the historic center of Leiden. While sailing you will taste and discover eight beautiful wines. Skipper and donor alternate with inspiring wine stories and beautiful anecdotes about the well-known and hidden gems of Leiden.
