Who are we?
Tell us your wishes and Stichting De Leidse Rederij will get to work for you. With our large fleet of 13 ships, we can put together a custom-made arrangement for a group size of 2 to 300 people.
We are ready to set sail 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year round and as our slogan indicates: "Nothing is too crazy for us!"
From a quiet cruise through the Green Heart of Holland to an exuberant laughter course on board, and from an active cruise with our 'Doordouwer', in which you move the boat yourself with a push and pull system, to a 'normal' Tour through Leiden.
Stichting De Leidse Rederij is a volunteer organization of comprising more than a hundred enthusiastic skippers, guides and ship technicians, who are all happily involved with the city of Leiden.
Where do we sail?
Leiden is a water city, where you can admire many beautiful and historic sights of the city while sailing. We are happy to provide a fun and relaxing cruise through the old canals and along the green canals.
Directly outside Leiden we sail to the Green Heart of Holland with its wind, water and meadows. Along old waterways we find many places of interest in the pleasant city center such as Leiden University, many museums, monumental buildings, beautiful courtyards, old alleys and traces of a glorious past.
This treasure trove of knowledge, culture and science inspired us to found a Leiden Shipping Company in 2004 to show the splendor of a historic city from the water.
What we do and can do:
We are happy to extend a cruise for you with catering on board or with a playful activity such as a Leiden course, a sailing quiz, a cooking workshop or pushing with 'de Doordouwer'.
You are also free to bring your own catering on board and to come up with your own interpretation for your group.
Stichting De Leidse Rederij specializes in boat trips for parties and large groups, water-related events, weddings, company events, school excursions, senior trips, a day out and a water taxi service.
Canal cruise Leiden
You sail in a stylish open 'skûtsje' through the picturesque canals and along the green canals of “Oudt Leyden”. An experienced skipper will tell you about the splendor of Leiden's past.
Our open 'skûtsje' - suitable for up to 30 people - crosses the narrowest canals and takes you past the most beautiful sights of the historic city center.
The languages spoken are: Dutch – English – German – French* – Greek* - Spanish* - Japanese*.

* In the months of May to September we also sail on Saturdays from 12.30 - 13.30, from 13.30 - 14.30, from 14.30 - 15.30 and from 16.00 - 17.00.
Evening sailings
Evening sailings (Friday and Saturday):
Take a beautiful evening cruise through the twilight and darkness in Leiden.
The sailing times are the following:

21.30 – 22.30

Rates for the Leiden Canal Cruise:
Adults: €12,-
Children under 10 years: €10,-
Seniors 65 +: €10,-
Students in possession of the '&Cultuurkaart' €10,-
Children/babies that fit on your lap: free
The (Leiden) Treat card can of course also be handed in to us
Dogs are allowed on board on a leash.

3. Pick up the gift voucher at the Harbor Office
4. Give the voucher as a gift and enjoy the radiant face of the recipient(s)!
* With the phrase 'Nothing is too crazy for us' in this case we mean that we can make a gift voucher for literally any arrangement we have.
